MouseKeyDo®
The MouseKeyDo® System is an entirely new way to type, mouse, and use the
laptop. Norman J. Kahan, MD a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist,
is the founder and director of Sports and Occupation Medical Associates in Cupertino,
CA. He developed this system to allow patients to return to keyboard and
mousing activities without aggravating symptoms. The MouseKeyDo® System
is different from traditional ergonomic evaluations in that it focuses on teaching
the patient a new and more natural way of typing and mousing. Our
staff has been trained in the MouseKeyDo® System and uses Dr. Kahan’s
book Computing Without Pain With MouseKeyDo® to teach this new approach to
pain free keyboard and mousing activities. |

“Midlife and
Beyond” Rehabilitation
Our clinic started this program in 2005 to address the rehabilitation needs of
patients in the 50 to 70 years and older patient population. Often times,
patients in this age group have quit exercising secondary to work schedules,
pain, time constraints, or not being comfortable in a “gym” environment. This
program provides education about pain control and joint protection, in addition
to individually tailored exercises to maximize patients’ functional capabilities. Many
patients on this program have returned to exercising on a regular basis and are
able participate in their work and recreational activities with less pain. |

Running
Program
Runners at all levels stop running or jogging at times because
of injuries or periods of deconditioning. Proper injury
treatment, specific exercise training, guidance and encouragement on
the part of the therapist and desire and patience on the part
of the patient, often result in the patient being able to return
to running.
David Severson, PT, owner of MPT
has a special interest in helping older runners and walkers
maintain their activity levels. He himself ran his first
marathon this year at age 55! |
